Hi
I have a local pst file (9.5GB) that I use for daily work. I sync my Outlook data to my smartphone via a sync software and sometimes I have the sync software crashing. I was asked to check for integrity of my pst file.
I did run scanpst.exe and had the same error over and over (meaning that if I try to fix it and check again it shows the same error) and it seems like scanpst is unable to fix the problem.
I do not know how to interptet the errors from the log. Can anyone who has some knowledge explain to me what is happening?
Here is part of the log:
**Attempting to validate AMap
!!AMap page <@10202792960> has csFree of 64, but should have 255
**Attempting to walk all folders

What should I do? Also, should I create a brand new pst file and start moving all my data from current pst to new?
If so, what is the beste way to do so? I had this in mind:
1. create new pst file.
2. open new pst file withing current pst file opened.
3. start moving all data from one file to the other.
Is this a good solution or would I just move the errors above listed by doing this and would not solve the issue?
Please note that I do not experience any issue with Outlook using it on a daily base.
Here is the info of Outlook software I am running:
Microsoft Outlook 2016 MSO (16.0.7426.1015) 32bit
thank you
Every Microsoft Outlook version has inbuilt repair tool known as Scanpst.exe to fix corrupted PST files, Outlook not responding and other PST file issues. This tool will scan complete PST file to check whether its structure is in good state or not. If any issues are found, then it will rebuild the header of your original Personal Storage Table (PST) to make it error free. Actually, it works completely on your original PST and thus increasing the chances of losing Outlook attributes.
In order to use Scanpst tool in Outlook, you should first know its location which varies for different versions. Below are ScanPST file locations for different Outlook versions:
Scanpst location for Outlook 2016
Scanpst location for Outlook 2013
Scanpst location for Outlook 2010
Outlook 2007 Scanpst.exe location
Where is Scanpst.exe located in Outlook 2003?
Outlook 2002/XP location for Scan PST file
Outlook 2000 Scanpst location
Outlook 97 / Outlook 98 ScanPST .exe location
To run this Outlook PST repair tool, you should know the PST file location on your system which is difficult to remember. In some Outlook versions, there is an option to even change the default location. If in case you don’t know the default location of PST file, then check below for detailed information
Default location for Windows XP system
Location for Windows Vista, 7 and 8
When you know the path of PST file then you can carry out the scanning process by following 3 major manual steps i.e. Start -> Detail -> Repair. Also, in order to use this tool, one has to be tech savvy and in case the ScanPST tool fails to fix Outlook PST you will lose your important Outlook attributes.
What to do, if repair process fails?
